There are only 2 types, Degenerative and Autoimmune. Degenerative or Osteoarthritis is the destruction of joints though wear and tear. Autoimmune is any arthritic condition where the body is attacking it own joints which includes Rheumatoid (not called Rheumatism since mid last century), Psoriatic, Ankylosing Spondilitis, Reactive and Enteropathic Arthritis just to name a few. There are easily 20 to 50 different varieties, all slightly different from each other but most with very similar disease mechanisms and pathologies.
